Use to be fun!! Now, very much not!!
I had previously left a 5 star review, but after the past few updates, I felt the need to drop it down to 2 stars (and debating on 1 star). This use to be a fun game, but the past few updates have all but ruined it. From nerfing troops/ships to restructuring things, it’s made it more difficult to win, even on easy. And the area of attack by ships makes this a very frustrating game to play. This is another example of people in charge taking something great and fun and turned it into something frustrating and annoying. Truly sad!! Up to this point I’ve bought all the new tribes and most of the skins, but it’s very safe to say, I won’t be spending another dime on this game. It would be nice if they introduced a classic option that would allow you to play the game before the recent updates.

I’m not liking the new update. You nerfed it too much for sea combat. It cost 15 for a battleship but it only does 3 damage. A catapult costs 8 and does 4 damage. And, it takes two shots to kill both, most times. Can we meet in the middle? You took the fun out out of this game.

Roads and resources are expensive. The boats are slow, expensive, and weak. Offensive abilities have been nerfed again. I get that the idea is to make the game more welcoming to new players and sell more skins, but needing 4 rammers or 7 warriors to take out a defender is not interesting strategically and dull besides. The giant play is more interesting though, so that’s nice.

Since the naval update, and the naval rework, they’ve been pushing the skill cap down, and slowed play, to be more welcoming to new players. Luck with spawn and first explorer, dictate the game. If you go into Perfection there’s almost no separation in high scores. I will say, the slower and more forgiving play make it less frustrating when you tap the wrong square, so that’s kind of nice.

I’ve played this game competitively for like 4 years, at the highest level. I don’t know the motivation from the devs to keep making these drastic changes, but one things for sure, they do not listen to the competitive community in this game. Since the “pros” know this game the best, their opinions should be considered and taken seriously, because the devs don’t know what’s best for their own game. Every update after moonrise has been one bad decision after another, and the game has progressively gotten worse since then. It’s been a long time since they added elo to multiplayer, and where’s the leaderboards?!? Such a simple thing to add. The last update was awful, and the game is completely ruined now. Do not play this game, it’s a shell of what it once was.
