MEMBERSHIP DETAILS
Ate Food Diary is a subscription app with a 7-day FREE trial for new subscribers. The subscription gives you full, unlimited access to the app- no hidden fees, gated features, or ads. It enables Ate to continuously provide new features and updates while maintaining a private and secure environment for you to journal in.

Subscriptions created in the app are processed and managed by Apple. Your credit card will be charged through your Apple App Store account when you confirm your purchase. Subscription renews automatically at the same price unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the subscription term. You can manage subscriptions in Account Settings in the Apple App Store after purchase. Refunds will not be provided for any unused portion of the subscription term.

Couldnt even begin to use.

Its disappointing there isn't a free tier. You do not get to see how the app works firsthand before you are told you have to have a trial which auto-charges into a subscription at first. I don't want to argue, (I say pre-emptively, anticipating a weird developer response to this. This isnt reddit, I dont want a dialogue.) just want to state how even going into a free trial is still a commitment, even if it's "free". Because you don't have something to show the prices in the app, it comes across as a demanding too much trust before you've even met eyes with the ui past the sign up. I had hoped this one would work for me, but by no means am I in a situation nor have any desire to set myself up with an auto-charge after 7 day trial when I don't even know whats in the app.

The app I’ve been looking for

Finally, a food tracking app that is extremely simple, intuitive, and non-triggering for those of us with a history of disordered eating. No calories, no green/yellow/red food categorization, no time wasted sorting through food databases. Just a beautiful, simple, highly visual representation of what you ate, allowing you (and your doctor, nutritionist, therapist, etc) to take a step back and get a better picture of what you’re eating, when, and why. Worth every penny IMO.

Beware - Virtually impossible to find cost…

So many reviews about the sneaky membership costs. I spent the last half hour looking for “how much this app costs after the 7 day trial”. Take a look for yourself, virtually impossible to find. Any business that isn’t proud to display their costs versus benefits clearly is a business I will have to avoid. Sorry. see typical developer response below, still no reference to membership cost! Developer Response: Thanks for the feedback. As we clearly state in the app description, an Ate membership requires a subscription after the 7-day FREE trial. Not sure how this is deceptive as the whole concept of a free trial is to test drive an app before starting the subscription. The trial and the subscription is managed by Apple as it is with most subscriptions on the App Store. Be more than happy to chat with you to discuss how you think this could be improved, if you reach out to us on one of our support channels.

Great app, but really wish I log future meals

Love that there is no calorie counting! This app would be perfect if I could also add meals ahead of time. Planning what I’m going to eat ahead of time is a critical part of my health plan and it seems like this might be easy to allow this option.
