Misleading
I know I have seen all of the women in my filter criteria, even considering the one that have liked me that I am not able to see. Yet to continue to receive notifications about “needing to update my criteria” even though I have even seen even half of those that like me? Something isn’t right here. On top of that even when I adjusted the age and distance, I’ll see the same prompt 3-4 swipes later. Multiple things aren’t right here.

After a divorce and a couple of years single. I was skeptical about dating again. After texting through the app and talking on the phone to 2 to 3 men. I was about to give up. Then I finally met a guy who was on my level. We both had great jobs, and an MBA, and knew what it takes to be happy. Whew… thought I would never meet my guy. But I am super happy 😁 O waited a little longer.

I think this app is area based, and where you’re based “located” will dictate what matches and offerings you get. So if you’re in a place where the men aren’t offering much , then what is available on the app will be men who aren’t up to your standards. I’ve noticed that all the reviews good or bad are years old and the last review that was posted march of 2024 is the review I took advice from I paid for the app. I just believe that Louisiana has terrible men and so that’s what you see no real professionals and everybody wants something casual, I did everything the person said do I paid I added my LinkedIn. I did it all my pictures were amazing I’m a very attractive, young lady. I got matches. They were not quality matches to me or the men that were interested in me I wouldn’t touch with a 10 foot pole. The app is very glitchy. I seem to notice that all apps that are for people of color tend to be very glitchy. I had to login , log out , login, log out , when setting my profile up. On the professional side, it would show me two profiles and then say I needed to reset my settings, but if my settings are set to 100 years old and 500 miles away, which are both the oldest and longest distance you can set it to then maybe it’s not me, Maybe it’s the app The best part about the app was the deletion of my account. It took all of five seconds now how long it floats I don’t know, but it automatically logged me out. Don’t give up on this app I do believe there’s some real potential here, I just think for my location it’s not for me.

Misleading Promises and Subscription Traps: The app markets itself as a platform for meeting upscale, ambitious singles. Initially, this proposition seemed promising. However, upon subscribing, I quickly realized that the reality was far from what was advertised. The first red flag was the sudden influx of likes just as my subscription was about to expire—a classic tactic that felt manipulative. This seemed designed to coax me into renewing my subscription by showcasing a sudden, yet misleading, increase in interest. 2. Poor User Experience and App Functionality: Throughout my subscription, the app’s performance was underwhelming. It frequently crashed, and on several occasions, updates required reinstallation, causing further inconvenience. Messages did not sync properly, and notifications were often misleading, showing likes or messages that mysteriously disappeared when I tried to view them. 3. Quality of Matches: The quality of the profiles was another major letdown. Despite the app’s claims of a “professional” user base, many profiles were incomplete or did not fit the criteria that one would expect from a platform advertised as premium. The filtering options were inadequate, which made the search for meaningful connections even more challenging. 4. Customer Service and Transparency Issues: When I reached out to customer support to address my concerns, the responses were lackluster. The interaction felt more defensive than supportive, with little to no acknowledgment of the issues I raised. This lack of effective communication and resolution only added to the frustration. 5. Pricing vs. Value: Considering the premium cost of the subscription, the value it offered was questionable. The features that required payment, such as seeing who likes you, did not justify the expense, especially when these likes seemed to be manipulated around the subscription renewal period. Conclusion: BlackGentry promised a premium dating experience but delivered a service fraught with technical issues, questionable business tactics, and a disappointing user base. For those considering BlackGentry, I advise caution. There are numerous other dating platforms out there that offer a more honest, value-for-money experience. It’s disheartening to write such a critical review, especially when the potential for a great dating app catering to Black professionals is immense. However, transparency and user satisfaction seem to be low on the priority list for BlackGentry, which is a disservice to its community.

I usual don’t write reviews but I’m only writing this one cuz I literally requested a refund the same day I got this app ..ima keep it short and sweet this app is a finesse I hop on the app for a week mutually match with one person but had 17 hidden like …coo you would think that they give u the opportunity to swipe on the people that like you they don’t at all so boom I was look at some of the reviews and the app states they are “built for serious members “ bet so I paid the 44$ the best one they got to my surprise every one that match me was not only a fake user but from 400+miles away😂🤣 so as kept it for three days cuz I’m supposed to be at the top profile no likes no matches hmmm strange I was getting more action when I ain’t have it so I got a refund through apple …guess what the best part is ?!!! Soon as the remove my subscription 5 like of the bat please stay away hinge is probably the only legit app left on the market 💯🫡
