Could be the end
Updating my review. Drop down to one star. This used to be my favorite of all of these apps. I had given it the highest star rating of all. I’ve been on this since just about the beginning. But, today noticed they removed the match feature. That was the last thing left that got me to log in to this. On top of that, more and more features are becoming pro only. Why would one want to go pro… it’s the same old faces over and over, year after year and becoming mostly inactive. It’s a finite clientele. Why would one want to pay for all that. You can see the same people on all the other apps. And there are so many of these apps now. Moved this app to the “to be deleted folder”. Could be the end…
Archived inbox when?
Why is there still no archived inbox? Let’s say I want to review old chats from members I archived. There’s no way to do that unless you miraculously find their profile again and view the chat history. Out of multiple chats that I’ve archived, the chances of me finding that “one profile” is very slim. I often archive messages that haven’t seen the light of day in some time, but if I want to go back to that chat, it’s not happening unless I start favoriting every member I message. That’s just poor design. Every messaging app that has an archive feature allows you to access it in some direct way, but not Scruff, lol.
Listen to your users and remove the BKDR ad
Scruff’s refusal to listen to hundreds of reviewers like myself who have been asking for removal or a permanent dismissal of their pushy BKDR ad is shameful. One of Scruff’s primary strengths over its competitor is listening to its users and customer service. They’ve ignored this request for many updates now. Stop messing this up and spreading ill will among your most loyal customers!
They promote catfishing.
Why do you promote catfishing? That’s actually really disgusting. You promote the MTV show, so you must think it’s okay, even funny, that your members use the app to catfish outside of the show. Then you make money off of that. Nasty disgusting app that makes gay culture even more toxic and ruins society. You are a pie slice on the chart of reasons society is breaking down, and you love it because you advertise it within your own app.
Going downhill
App used to be so much better. They keep removing features already paid for. Can no longer see who you’ve view or who you’ve woofed. Also as a paid pro subscriber (costing a small fortune), I also get adds all the time under the messages section. Scruff is always trying to sell me some pill of some type. 2-3 advertisements every day and as a paid subscriber I was under the impression there were no ads. They have also removed features and filters and the direction of the app is concerning. I’ve contacted support regarding my concerns so we shall see what they have to say. Update: No longer a paid member. Not even remotely worth it. Filters are poor or non existent. Constant spamming of ads, limited legit profiles. The only redeeming feature is the ambassador feature. Otherwise avoid as there are better options. Update as of 3-14-23 Hardly ever use this any more. Logged on today and all I saw was not stop pop up ads. Even when you close them they open up on safari. So sad to see my once go to app is basically non functional these days. Updated 5/1/24 It’s now declined into little more than constant pop up ads mostly for something called Bkdr. It’s invasive and very few people in my area use it like they used to because of the non stop ads. Shame they ruined the app that was once my go to and that I always paid for.
Canceling my Pro Subscription
Scruff decided to start forcing Pro users to see adds in the global view. As a result, my subscription is now canceled.
The Paywall Dating App
So I used to use this app quite frequently back in the day (2016~2018) and I remember it being a decent app. Hot men, great features, and profiles with a little more substance. Now that I’m back on it in 2024 it’s a different story. These days, it’s one giant paywall: Do you want to: - Review a conversation to reference a piece of information like a name or look at past pictures exchanged? You gotta pay for that. - Find an old conversation you had a week ago with someone? You gotta pay for that. - Use search filters to better improve matching up with your type? You gotta pay for that. - Send more than one photo at a time to a guy? You gotta pay for that. The list goes on. But essentially if you want to try and have better than a limited basic interaction with others you have to pay for pro. The match stack is a rip off of Tinder, and while there are no advertisements on the platform the functionality of other apps with adds are preferable over such a limited interface. Really the only redeeming qualities of this app are the hot men and theft protection of sent photos. Other than that it’s become a pile of garbage. If they actually had useful features and didn’t limit the basic features of a dating/meetup app then I would consider the price. Sad really.
