Take your Steam friends, groups, and conversations with you wherever you go. The Steam Chat app includes many key features of the desktop Steam client chat, including: Friends List – See who’s in game or online at a glance. You'll see your custom categories and favorites bar just like you can on your PC. (repeated above) Rich Chat – Your chats get even better with higher fidelity links, videos, tweets, GIFs, Giphy, Steam emoticons, and more. Invite Links – Add new friends on Steam with a link. Generate an invite link you can text or email. Customizable Notifications – Mobile notifications mean you'll never miss a message or game invite. You can customize your notifications per friend, group chat, and chat channel. Group Chats - Get everyone on the same page. Groups make it easier to do things like stay in touch with your communities and organize game night with your best friends.
Failed to connect to steam
Stupid app keeps saying Failed to connect to steam after trying to login. Please update the dang app already. There was no need to separate the chatting feature from normal app anyway
Garbage
It’s garbage. Use maybe only for emergencies lol
This should just be integrated with the other Steam App.
Having an entirely separate app for chat, when it worked fine before, is entirely unnecessary and cumbersome.
How can Valve make something so awful?
This app is absolute garbage, I’m better off remote desktopping into my PC and chatting that way. Combine it back with the old app and get rid of this buggy garbage.
Broken
This app has not worked properly from the day they split it from steam mobile
Needs an Update Badly
Good news! The app barely works! That’s about all it does though. Notifications are 50/50 on appearing at all regardless of if steam is closed on my PC. The only way that I can be more sure, not even completely sure, that I’ll get a message notification is by closing the app entirely and hoping the person I’m talking to doesn’t message me in the next minute or so, otherwise the notification doesn’t seem to go through. Atop that, there’s no notification sound at all even when notifications DO come through, which leaves me constantly checking my phone like a paranoid person whenever I’m waiting on a message to come through and it’s insanely obnoxious. At the time of writing this, the app doesn’t seem to have been updated in about 3 years, which is seriously lackluster on the dev’s part given the basic polish and features the app seems to lack. I’ll continue to use it because it’s the only way I can keep in contact easily with a specific friend of mine, otherwise I’d have never even downloaded this app.
No reason to separate from Steam app
It seems like you can’t login with iPhone and iPad at same time. Also, it’s only fit for iPhone. I just don’t understand why valve make it an individual app since they don’t want to update it often. Remove this app and get the chat function back to the Steam app ASAP!
